A little over 18 years ago we settled into the quiet rural Indiana countryside near Monticello (roughly half way between Indianapolis and Chicago). My lovely bride of 29 years, Lois, and I have been blessed to have the opportunity to raise our family in this small community where you really can get to know your neighbors, and everyone is a neighbor.

We have stayed busy with our three wonderful children through church activities, scouts, sports, marching band, plays. Whereas I was a back-stage presence at SHS, my kids have participated on stage, including the lead in "Peter Pan" (our Peter "flew" using the same apparatus that Mary Martin used on Broadway, or so we were told) and the character of theWicked Witch of the West in the "Wizard of Oz" (still not sure how they got Christa to melt...but they did!).

Peter (24) graduated from Purdue University this Spring with a B.S. inComputer Technology, Christa (21) is a senior at Bethel College (Biblical Studies), and Bethany (16) is a junior at Twin Lakes High School.

For the past 26 years I have worked for Northern Indiana Public Service Company, currently as a Project Engineer (I received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Valparaiso University, 1973).

It is interesting to read what many of you have written about the changes that have taken place in your lives over the years. The most significant change in my life came a couple of years after high school, when God took hold of my heart and I trusted Jesus as Lord and Savior. The change in my life has been dramatic. I am so thankful for what He has done, and is continuing to do in my life. I can honestly say that I don't know where I'd be today without His love and forgiveness!

Mom and Dad moved back to Scarsdalein about 1980 after 3 years in Miami, FL, and 8 years in Hong Kong. (They have since retired to North Carolina.)I visited Scarsdale many times while they were there, but was only able to make a few contacts with high school friends.

I regret losing track of old friends from SHS. Those were memorable years and I have thought of many of you often! My thanks to Steve and all who have worked so hard on this web-site.What a great opportunity this is to become re-acquainted! Send me a note, and I'll do the same. And if you're ever in North Central Indiana, I'd love to hear from you.

Best to all!
Rick
